Folks, pull up a chair. I need to get something off my chest.
Actually, I need to get several things off my chest, and I’m not entirely sure where to begin!
Between the daily news, political nonsense, online scammers, health care headaches, Social Security concerns, and the general state of affairs in this country, I’m beginning to wonder if somebody misplaced the instruction manual for running a civilized society.
Let’s see…
THE NEWS: Every day brings another headline that makes you wonder whether you’re watching the news or the latest episode of a badly written television drama.
THE SCAMMERS: Apparently, everybody wants to be my friend, sell me cryptocurrency, double my money, or help me claim some mysterious prize. Funny how none of them ever want to send me money!
POLITICS: Promises, accusations, finger-pointing, and enough hot air to power a fleet of balloons. Meanwhile, ordinary Americans are still waiting for answers.
HEALTH CARE: Getting older means more appointments, more prescriptions, more paperwork, and more questions about what insurance will actually cover. Staying healthy shouldn’t feel like a full-time administrative job.
SOCIAL SECURITY AND WELFARE: People who have worked, paid into the system, raised families, or fallen on hard times deserve dignity, security, and a system that treats them fairly. Yet too many folks are left worrying about how they’ll make ends meet.
And that’s just the beginning!
I’m not suggesting I have all the answers. Hell, some days I’m just trying to remember where I put my reading glasses.
But I do know this: ordinary people have plenty of legitimate concerns, and somebody ought to be listening.
So tonight, I’m opening the doors to something new:
THE OLD GUY’S COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT
No appointment necessary. No paperwork required. Coffee is on the house, and the soapbox is available.
What’s grinding your gears these days?
What has you frustrated, worried, angry, or simply shaking your head?
Government? Health care? Retirement? Social Security? Scammers? Technology? The news? The price of just about everything?
Bring it on.
Let’s share our frustrations, compare notes, maybe find a few solutions, and have a little laugh along the way.
Just remember, we can disagree without becoming disagreeable.
And if anybody has a solution for the world’s problems, please write it down. I’ll put it next to my grocery list, which I also can’t find.
